The blade has a non-reflective black epoxy powder coat, a blood groove, and USA tang stamp. The desert color oval Kraton G thermoplastic elastomer handle comes with a black metal butt cap and guard. The KA-BAR Desert Fighting-Utility Knife is 11 3/4" overall, and weighs .66 pounds.
The KA-BAR Desert Color Hard Plastic Sheath features two ways to keep the blade secure. A friction guard lock holds the blade inside the sheath, and a nylon retaining strap snaps around the handle for extra security. The sheath is also salt water resistant, so the blade will not cut through if the sheath is submerged in salt water. The KA-BAR hard plastic sheath has several grommets and slots for tie-downs, and allows for a variety of carrying options.
