Well the knives are new and as mechanically sound as the first's, but there may be a small nick or mark somewhere on the handle or blade. On some of the knives it is impossible to see what made it a second, no marks are visible. We check every knife to make sure they work and guarantee your satisfaction on every purchase or your money back. The seconds do have a factory mark of 4 xxxx on the blade, this lets the factory know that they are seconds. The xxxx marks are small and do not make the blades look weird. These knives are not in box's and do not have a factory warrantee. But the prices on these factory seconds are GREAT!
